Those girls who wear converse to prom because “they aren’t like most girls”
or didn’t want/feel comfortable wearing high heels. Or they were just being themselves. Either way, who fucking cares.

I had a scary experience this past weekend.
My boyfriend, Scott had gone to our hometown to finish a plumbing side job for a friend, so I was home alone for the most part all day Sunday. Started off feeling pretty shitty, but I managed to have one egg & a piece of toast, did some laundry in the morning, smoked a bong & fell asleep watching a movie. I didn’t wake up until he got home around 5 pm.
So I said I would get up and start to make us some dinner. I threw the chicken in the oven and tossed some asparagus in the steamer. While I was waiting for dinner to be ready, I smoked a bong with my roommate Ness in the living room. The buzzer buzzed and I ran to the kitchen to take the food out.
A puff of heat & some smoke billowed from the oven as I took the tray of chicken out and put it on the counter. Then I fainted or fell, or whatever. But all I remember is picking myself up off the floor as Scott & Ness came walking into the kitchen asking if I had dropped something.
I told them I wasn’t sure, and they looked at me like “What do you mean you don’t know if you dropped something?” Scott went to kiss my forehead, and thankfully he did because I fainted again and he caught me before I hit the floor.
Scott was yelling at me to open my eyes, to wake up. I don’t remember that he picked me up off the kitchen floor & carried me to the living room couch, but my eyes were rolling into the back of my head, Ness said I was like ghost-white, sweaty and a little non-responsive.
Ness is in school to become a nurse; she ultimately took over, telling Scott to stop shaking me, told him to go get a cold cloth & to step back so I could get some fresh air. The people who live in the basement apartment came to see what was up, after hearing Scott yelling. I do remember trying to re-assure everyone that I was fine & asked if I had dropped the chicken on the floor.
Scott said he was going to take me to the hospital in case I may have hit my head. Again thankfully he was there, because I was still pretty stoned while the nurse was trying to ask me questions.”What’s your postal code?” *Looks at Scott* “Who’s your family physician?” *Looks at Scott*
So they get me to a room, asking me more questions about what had happened. Then the nurse asks me, “When was your last period?” and I couldn’t tell her. I didn’t know, it was only right then and there did I realize that I’m a few days late for my period. “Beginning of February? Late January maybe..” she told me if I was tired I could sleep and they would send someone in to take a blood sample soon.
So I did; I fell asleep. So deeply, that they came to take blood for some tests, and I don’t remember them sticking a needle in my arm. Waking up as the doctor FINALLY walks into my room after being at the walk-in for close to 4 hours and I stared at my arm for a while, and asked “when the fuck did that happen?” and Scott said, “About two hours ago”
Doc asked me to stand, walk forward, now back. Turn slowly. Follow the light. Answer a few simple questions and told me my blood work is clear & I’m free to go home.
Which really urked me, like I waited for nearly 4 hours for you to speak with me for 2 freakin’ minutes?!
"Well why did this happen?" I asked him, and he went on to explain, "Well we didn’t want to rule out early pregnancy since a lot of women have moments of becoming light headed and passing out. But it seems that when you came in, your blood pressure was well below average, which was probably caused by the marijuana. Your lack of fluid intake & activity through the day is a strong factor, as well as the sudden heat change from the kitchen. Your body just wasn’t hydrated enough for it to adapt for what you wanted it to do."
I felt so bad for Scott, so worried about me and having to get up for work at 5 am after we finally got home from the hospital around 1 am. He’s so good to me & just wanted to make sure I was okay and have my noggin checked out, even though I’m pretty sure I just greened out hard.
